About the artist.

Meet Tina Lloyd, a Victoria, BC artist whose passion is capturing the fleeting beauty of the Canadian landscape and cherished moments from her travels.

Meet Tina

After a 32-year career dedicated to caring for my Victoria community as a nurse, I have embarked on my next chapter as a full-time artist.

I always knew I wanted to paint, but for years I thought I didn't have the time or space. Then, thinking about retirement one day, I decided I wasn't going to wait. I went out and bought my first easel, starting my journey right in our kitchen. Soon, canvases and supplies filled the living room, until my wonderfully supportive husband built me a dedicated art room.

I even found the courage—with my sister by my side—to try painting en plein air for the first time in a quiet spot away from people. Now, it's one of my greatest joys. For me, making paintings is a personal challenge and a constant inspiration; I thrive on this continuous journey of art feeding the soul.

My Journey into Art

My formal art journey began in 2021, and it has been a thrilling adventure of learning and creating ever since.

Guided by incredible teaching and mentoring from local artists, I’ve become deeply involved in the vibrant arts community here in Victoria. Whether I'm painting outdoors or exploring new techniques with oils, acrylics, and watercolors in my studio, I love the process of bringing a moment to life.

My Artistic Philosophy

My work blends impressionism with elements of abstraction and a hint of realism, and I am most drawn to landscapes and still life. Creating art is a passion that makes my soul feel alive, an expression guided by my core values of honesty, integrity, and kindness. I believe each person has their own walk in life, and that art can be a mirror for that experience.

This philosophy extends to every piece I create. With commitment and care, I handle each original painting, print, or card with mindfulness, ensuring that the work you receive is exactly what you expected. Ultimately, my goal is to translate a fleeting moment—its unique colour, light, and texture—onto a canvas that can be shared. I hope my paintings allow you to see what your own journey is leading you to discover, and that they inspire you along the way.

A Little More About Me

When I'm not in the studio, life is made full by...

  • Trying out new recipes for my family and friends to enjoy.

  • Spending precious time with my grandchildren.

  • Reminiscing about past hobbies, from badminton and tennis to catching three big salmon on my first solo fishing trip!

Field Notes & Inspirations

Every painting begins with a moment. This gallery is a small sample of my visual field notes: the real-world scenes, fleeting light, and quiet compositions that spark an idea and eventually find their way onto the canvas.

A boat docked in a harbor with a house and colorful buildings in the background, reflected in the calm water.
A winding wooden boardwalk through a wetland with green grass and water, under a partly cloudy sky.
A woman standing outdoors in a park with an art easel and painting supplies, wearing a hat, gloves, and apron, with trees and a wooden fence in the background.
A narrow canal in Venice, Italy, lined with old, weathered buildings with windows and balconies, some with plants, and a stone walkway along the water.
Boats docked at a marina with houses and a cloudy sky in the background in black and white.
Woman taking a selfie on a beach with a small painting of the same scene displayed on an easel next to her. The beach has sand, water, and distant trees, with mountains visible in the background.
